If you’re looking for a company that provides key expertise to accomplish any Foundation Repair or renovations, look no further than GJ Macrae. We are a family owned and operated Foundation Repair company since 1975. GJ Macrae was one of the first companies to recognize the need to turn moldy, old, unused basements into dry, livable space. With our 40 year history we’ve gained experience and quality of workmanship through completing over 10,000 projects. We are the industry leaders in basement waterproofing and structural foundation repairs and underpinning. What sets us apart from many Toronto Repair Service Companies is our 15 year transferable warranty that is considered the most valuable warranty in the business. This means that if you sell your house, the warranty transfers to the new owner as well. This blog is dedicated to detailing the variety of services we offer at GJ Macrae.

2.Basement Waterproofing:

Whether you use your basement as a family room, recreation room, living room, or media room,  basements are a sacred place in many peoples’ homes as a space to bring everyone together. Family is important to us at GJ Macrae! Being a family owned, and operated company in the GTA area, we take pride in finding the best solution for every family’s home. Leaky basements are not enjoyable for anyone, which is why it is important to consider Waterproofing to prevent any water damage from coming into your foundation and to protect your home. 3. Weeping Tile:

At GJ Macrae we offer homeowners a service that helps protect water damage from coming into your home’s basement foundation. This is a very beneficial service to consider when thinking of preventing water damage from affecting your home. A Weeping Tile Installation allows for excess water to be redirected away from the basement foundation. Weeping tiles are 4 inch plastic tubing with small slits to allow water into the pipe, known as ‘perforation’. Weeping tile is generally placed at the bottom of your home’s foundation in a gravel trench. The pipes are buried in a layer of gravel to filter out any debris that may be causing blockage in the pipe. The water is then channeled, away from your foundation. If a Weeping Tile Installation is something you feel would benefit your home, contact our experts at GJ Macrae today!

4. Underpinning:

What is underpinning? And is it something my basement needs? To answer your questions, Underpinning is defined as strengthening the foundation of a building or existing structure. With the price of residential real estate going through the roof, basement renovation is taking off. If you are looking to add more living space to your basement, Underpinning would be the way to do so! In order to expand your basement, Underpinning is required. Underpinning secures the foundation of the home so that the basement can be excavated thus creating more living space with a higher ceiling by 8 feet or more. If you are looking to create a viable living space from your under-utilized basement, talk to the our Underpinning experts at GJ MacRae. We are pioneers in basement excavation and structural repairs. Let our team turn your dream into a reality, while still considering time and budget!

5. Crumbling Foundations:

What causes a Crumbling Foundation? It is very common to find Crumbling Foundations within century homes. Very old homes, over time, start to experience a crumbling foundation. This can be caused by exposure to the elements over the years. At GJ MacRae, we have completed hundreds of century home restorations. If you are starting to notice your foundation is crumbling, don’t panic. GJ MacRae has the solution to your problem, contact us today!

6. Window Well Installations:

What does it mean for a window to be below grade? When a basement window is all, or partly below ground level, the window is considered below grade. If you are looking to increase light and ensure proper drainage around your window, a Window Well Installation is required. A window well is typically a U-shaped, ribbed metal frame, designed to fit around a basement window. This leaves space between the window and the ground, allowing proper drainage to take place as well as allowing natural sunlight to enter a basement.

Another benefit to installing a Window Well is that it funnels water away from the foundation of your home. The team at GJ MacRae is ready to assist you when thinking of a Window Well Installation for your home!

At GJ MacRae, we have 40 years of foundation repair experience serving families in the GTA. We thrive off of our customers’ happiness. Something we are very prideful of is our 15 year transferable warranty to show our customers our loyalty to the job.
