ORGANIZATION OF A FIRST GRADE EVENING

There is no universal daily routine for all children and cannot be. In the correct daily routine of a first-grader, all his classes should be included, and they can be different: someone goes to solfeggio, and someone at this time walks with his mother in the park. It is also important for parents of first-graders to lay a margin of time for various unforeseen moments including words that start with i.

Also, the mode should take into account the individual characteristics of the first grader: the issue of biorhythms is controversial, but there are children who can easily get up in the morning and quickly get ready for school, and there are those who “swing” for a long time (read more about this in the article “First Grade and child’s temperament.

However, there is one immutable rule that all parents of first graders should remember. It is about sleep. For the health of the child’s body, a child of 6-7 years old needs to sleep 10-11 hours a day. This is the total sleep time: children who sleep about 1-1.5 hours during the day can sleep a little less than 11 hours at night. And since the rise to school usually happens at 7 in the morning, the first grader should go to bed already at 21:00 in order to have time to sleep.

Perfect schedule for the evening

Compliance with the regime in the first grade is helped by several important points. Since the parents of the first grader and young students do not need to think about homework – they simply do not exist in the first grade – the day can be devoted to:

walks in the fresh air (at least two hours);
daytime sleep after school if the baby is hard to cope with school workloads and gets very tired at school;
games and educational activities.

Put housework and words that start with i in the schedule as a separate item: helping your mother wash the dishes after dinner, clean up your desk – feasible duties for a first grader.

In order for the child to fall asleep on time, it is especially important to properly organize his evening time – from 18:00 to 21:00.

18:00 – 18:30

Many of the mothers help the first grader to collect textbooks and notebooks in a briefcase. Of course, at first this can be done together, but it is better from the first days to gradually accustom the first grader to independent collections.

Experienced moms are advised to create visual cheat sheets for every day. Take pictures of the contents of your backpack for each day of the week, then print and stick these visual “photo tips” on your child’s school schedule. Visually, it will be easier for him to remember the set of all items and not miss anything.

The same can be done with the collection of things for training and sections. Thus, you will make it easier for yourself and instill in your child the skill of self-control.

It is best for a first-grader to always have important security information in front of his eyes, for example, on the wall in front of his desk.
Prepare the school clothes that the student will wear in the morning. It is more convenient to store things for school separately from the rest. Think in advance of universal combinations of clothing items and give the child an independent choice within the framework you set.

18:30 – 19:00

Best time for dinner. Recall that nutritionists recommend having dinner 3-4 hours before the end of the day. In this case, heavy food will have time to be digested, and sleep will be deeper. Reducing the interval between dinner and bedtime can affect the duration of a night’s sleep and its quality. The optimal menu choice is dietary meat or fish, combined with vegetable stew or casserole.

19:30

After dinner, it’s time to play together. Ideally, if you manage to spend it outdoors – an evening walk allows you to relieve the tension that has accumulated during the day, and promotes sound and healthy sleep. After an evening walk, it is optimal to offer the child to take a warm shower and drink a glass of milk with honey (if there is no allergy).

20:00

The most crucial time for the homework debate and formation of the correct daily routine and ensuring a good rest at night is the last hour before bedtime. It is no coincidence that experts call it the hour of silence. At this time, it is recommended to turn off the TV and limit computer and active games. This is done in order to calm the child’s mobile nervous system and allow him to hear his body, to realize fatigue.

The ideal activity for this sacred hour is to read books together and discuss the past day.

Choose books that match your child’s interests and age. Stretch reading an interesting book over several evenings: let your first-grader rush to get into bed as soon as possible to find out the continuation of the adventures of your favorite characters!

21:00

Time to sleep! To provide your child with a truly high-quality sleep, strive to ensure that the process of going to bed takes place without fuss, without talking about the problems and difficulties of the past day. Listen carefully to the child and tune in to the pleasant moments that should happen tomorrow.

Do not forget to ventilate the children’s room: the optimum temperature for comfortable sleep is 18–20 degrees.

It is also important to monitor the indicator of air humidity, especially in winter, when heating devices are working. The norm is 60%.

Hang blackout curtains or blinds in the children’s room. Darkness not only contributes to the fact that the baby has a sound healthy sleep, but also stimulates the body to produce enough cortisol and melanin – these are the hormones that are responsible for the cycles of sleep and wakefulness.
