Excavate underpin by hand and clean underside of footing with wire brush. Apply masonry adhesive to underside of footing. Once underpin is carved and prepared, build and install timber forms to accommodate a positive concrete adhesion to the underside of existing footings (non-grout, overflow method) allowing for a void-less encapsulation of existing structure to fresh underpin. Fill forms with 25 MPa concrete until full and install needle vibrator. Once cured, remove timber forms.

Repair all cracks and masonry voids in foundation wall below grade. Once cured, apply AB-720-38 rubberized membrane to repair area. Add a layer of mastic mesh, another layer of AB-720-38 rubberized membrane, a layer of 12m plastic and fasten drainage board to grade with termination straps and concrete anchors.

Replace weeping tile system within repair areas and cover with 6″ of 3/4″ clear gravel. Backfill and power tamp dirt.

Basement Entrance Replacement in the Junction (Toronto) https://wetbasements.com/project/basement-entrance-replacement-in-the-junction-toronto/ Fri, 14 Jun 2024 02:40:30 +0000 https://wetbasements.com/?post_type=project&p=14238 Fully demolish existing basement entrance and walls and dispose (complete removal/replacement of all basement entrance walls). Dig down to footings of structure by hand and install three underpins to engineer specified dimensions. Once cured, install telescopic jack to secure the above concrete pad and install 6” of 3/4“ gravel base throughout the excavation. Install 4” of styrofoam SM insulation and 15M rebar in mesh link pattern as to engineer specifications. Install concrete footing and float.

Once cured, begin reconstruction of complete basement entrance walls with 10“ cinderblock, blok-lock and 15M vertical rebar installations in specified block cores. Fill specified cores of blockwork with grout and parge exterior of fresh blockwork. Once wall rebuild is completed and cured, prime and waterproof exterior blockwork. Fasten drainage board to fresh blockwork and fasten styrofoam SM to exterior walls. Backfill soil on exterior of fresh block walls and form up new staircase with timber and appropriate rebar detail. Once prepared, pour new staircase and float.

Once complete, remove timber formwork and dispose. Remove existing concrete floor in cold room and pour new. Backfill all exterior walls and remove all debris. Refasten fence and secure. All labour and materials included.

Carbon Fiber Foundation Reinforcement with Underpinning (Hamilton) https://wetbasements.com/project/carbon-fiber-foundation-reinforcement-with-underpinning-hamilton/ Fri, 14 Jun 2024 02:35:28 +0000 https://wetbasements.com/?post_type=project&p=14231 Break open concrete floor and expose footing in proposed carbon fiber reinforcement installation areas. Remove all debris from concrete foundation wall and clean thoroughly. Expose sill plate/joist work and prepare for hardware mounting. Drill 1″ hole in concrete footing and clean debris from hole.

Generously cover concrete wall with resin and install carbon fiber strips directly to foundation wall. Run carbon fiber overtop of exposed footing and curl base of strip into proposed underpinning. Fasten top of carbon fiber into sillplate/joistwork and tighten hardware.

Fill forms with 25 MPa concrete until full and install needle vibrator and fill exterior blockwork with slurry grout.

Once cured, remove timber forms and fasten drainage board to foundation wall using concrete anchors. Install a fresh 4″ perforated weeping tile system with filter cloth.

Connect fresh weeping tile system into existing drain works. Cover weeping tile with 3/4″ gravel and reinstall concrete floor.

Remove and dump all debris. All labour and materials included.

Basement Underpinning with HSS Post Installations (Burlington) https://wetbasements.com/project/basement-underpinning-with-hss-post-installations-burlington/ Wed, 12 Jun 2024 17:02:27 +0000 https://wetbasements.com/?post_type=project&p=14029 Begin underpinning sections around complete perimeter of interior foundation walls in increments. Excavate underpins by hand and clean underside of footing with wire brush. Apply masonry adhesive to underside of footings. Once underpins are prepared, build and install timber forms. Forms shall accommodate positive concrete adhesion to underside of existing footings (overflow method) and allow for a void less encapsulation of existing structure to fresh underpins achieving a complete watertight seal (non-grout installation method).

Fill forms with 25 MPa concrete and install needle vibrator. Once primary underpins are completed repeat process around entire interior perimeter, staggered into pre-determined sectionals. Once full interior perimeter detail is complete, inspected and certified, prepare for complete excavation of basement floor by hand. Frame up and fasten existing furnace to joist work.

Fasten timber plankage to interior joist work and install vertical iron shoring along complete length of existing beam. Slowly begin lifting structure off of existing interior load bearing beam and secure the above structural load. Once vertical structure and joist work is secured, remove existing beam/load bearing columns from basement and dispose.

Install fresh vertical iron posts and plates where applicable and pour specified concrete footings for posts. Fasten new vertical posts to existing wood beam with approved hardware. Once post footings are cured, remove shoring and rest structure onto new post/footings installations.

Begin underpinning excavation of debris through side access window directly to disposal bin. Once full excavation of underpinned sectionals has concluded, remove timber forms and install a complete 4” interior weeping tile system with filter cloth. Chip all loose debris from foundation walls and repair all masonry voids in existing foundation walls with S-type masonry. Once cured, fasten drainage board around complete interior perimeter from grade to base of fresh underpins.

Install sump box next to proposed services area (customer to determine preferred sump box location). Connect fresh 4“ weeping tile system into proposed sump box and install a 1/3hp cast iron oil cooled sump pump with check valve into sump basin. Install 8” of 3/4” clear gravel throughout entire basement floor. Once level and complete, proposed plumbing rough-in modifications are to take place (not included in below price).

Once full structural and plumbing inspections are completed, install a 4” concrete floor by hand and float level. Remove and dump all debris. All labour and materials included.
