Begin bench pinning sections around proposed interior foundation walls. Install angle of repose to engineered specifications and install vertical rebar (bent at a 90 degree) into existing footing/foundation walls as well as vertical rebar inserted into unexcavated ground at base of bench pin (leaving the underside of existing footing undisturbed in benching area). Install multiple levels of horizontal rebar into bench pins and tie into vertical rebar creating a mesh pattern. Once complete, form with timber and install 25 mPa concrete into forms. Vibrate with needle vibrator to ensure complete encapsulation of form. Once cured, remove forms. Repeat process until complete.

Carbon Fiber Foundation Reinforcement with Underpinning (Hamilton) https://wetbasements.com/project/carbon-fiber-foundation-reinforcement-with-underpinning-hamilton/ Fri, 14 Jun 2024 02:35:28 +0000 https://wetbasements.com/?post_type=project&p=14231 Break open concrete floor and expose footing in proposed carbon fiber reinforcement installation areas. Remove all debris from concrete foundation wall and clean thoroughly. Expose sill plate/joist work and prepare for hardware mounting. Drill 1″ hole in concrete footing and clean debris from hole.

Generously cover concrete wall with resin and install carbon fiber strips directly to foundation wall. Run carbon fiber overtop of exposed footing and curl base of strip into proposed underpinning. Fasten top of carbon fiber into sillplate/joistwork and tighten hardware.

Excavate underpin by hand and clean underside of footing with wire brush. Apply masonry adhesive to underside of footing. Once underpin is carved and prepared, build and install timber forms to accommodate a positive concrete adhesion to the underside of existing footings (non-grout, overflow method) allowing for a void-less encapsulation of existing structure to fresh underpin.

Fill forms with 25 MPa concrete until full and install needle vibrator and fill exterior blockwork with slurry grout.

Once cured, remove timber forms and fasten drainage board to foundation wall using concrete anchors. Install a fresh 4″ perforated weeping tile system with filter cloth.

Connect fresh weeping tile system into existing drain works. Cover weeping tile with 3/4″ gravel and reinstall concrete floor.

Remove and dump all debris. All labour and materials included.
